When the Frisco (Texas) Chamber of Commerce caught wind of the chamber wager placed on the upcoming FCS Championship game on January 7 between the North Dakota State University Bison and the Sam Houston Bearkats, they decided to roll out the red carpet for fans.
Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber President/CEO Craig Whitney and Huntsville-Walker County, Texas Chamber of Commerce President Carol Smith have a friendly bet on the game. If the Bison win, Smith will send McKenzie’s Barbeque and candy from The Farmhouse Sweets and Eats to Whitney and staff. McKenzie’s Barbeque has been voted best barbeque for 14 consecutive years in Huntsville. If the Bearkats prevail, Whitney will send North Dakota bison steaks and chippers from Carol Widman’s Candy Co. to Smith and team.
In true Chamber form, Frisco’s Chamber has put together great events and ideas for football fans in town for the weekend.
On January 5, Frisco’s Chamber is hosting the 2nd Annual Great Texas BBQ Bowl, an evening of great Texas barbeque and a night of games including bowling, laser tag, pool, etc. at Main Event Entertainment. The event is primarily geared to the two teams, their fans, and some limited local attendees. Tickets can be purchased at www.friscochamber.com/ChamberEvents. Tickets for adults are $35 and children are $25 and will include all the food, games and entertainment and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets are limited to about 250 folks.
Friday night, as the teams prepare for the big game, the Frisco CVB has arranged for discounted Texas Tornado Hockey tickets for fans:
• Family Four Pack – $40 (4 Family Zone Tickets, 4 Hot dogs, 4 Chips, 4 Sodas)
• Individual Tickets – Premium Level Seats are $12; End Zone Seats are $8
Call 972.335.9800 and use code “NCAA” to receive the discounted hockey tickets.
Lastly, the Frisco Chamber is working with many local restaurants on special discounts on drinks, menu items, etc. Call 972.335.9522 for details.
“We can take real good care of all of you while in our great community,” says Frisco Chamber President Tony Felker, who extended his hospitality to Fargo Moorhead West Fargo Chamber President Craig Whitney last week.
Surely Felker and his team will be great hosts! Go Bison!
