Chamber to Honor Military Families at Annual Military Appreciation Night at the RedHawk

We’re excited to honor our military men and women and their families at Military Appreciation Night at the RedHawks on August 8. A joint effort of The Chamber, its Military Affairs committee and the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, The Chamber’s Military Appreciation Night will treat over 650 members of the military community to a patriotic-themed baseball game at Newman Outdoor Field.

Here’s just a few of the surprises that we have in store:
- At 6:37 p.m., make sure you’re in your seats to see the military tribute video featuring members of the local business community.

- At 6:40 p.m., be sure to check out the ceremonial first pitches:
1. Brigadier Gen. Al Dohrman, North Dakota’s Deputy Adjutant General for the North Dakota National Guard. Gen. Dohrman has served in a variety of positions, most recently commanding the Fargo based 141 MEB and was deployed in support of NATIO’s KFOR mission.
2. Master Sargent (Ret.) Eric Marts, a combat disabled veteran who was wounded in Operation Iraqi Freedom. His vehicle was stuck by multiple IED’s and Marts suffered a traumatic brain injury which eventually left him blind in both eyes. He will be accompanied on the field by his guide dog, Corporal Deacon

- At 6:50 p.m., turn your eyes to the sky as skydivers will bring down the Red, White and Blue to join a full color guard by the United Patriot Bodies, a tri-state veterans organization.

- Join Lori Thompson, a member of our Military Affairs committee, as she sings the National Anthem.

- Be sure to check out the fly over by Sentimental Journey, a B-17 from WWII.

- At the end of the first inning, we’ll have a Folds of Honor Presentation by D-S Beverages.

- Plus, keep your eyes peeled because throughout the game, we’ll be playing video messages from deployed service members.
